Baba does not want to take over this LJ. As she very eloquently put it, her day is too caught up with chasing the neighbour's dog, testing out various sleeping spots, sniffing around and looking adorable.

I've pruned my friends' list. There were too many on there for me to keep up with (no offence to people who got axed, I prune the list all the time).

I hope to be a little bit more active here than I was before. Between LJ, my other blog and the journal, it's a busy but achievable balance.

I have a new PC. His name is Archimedes. He came at 8.30pm last night.

I can heave a sigh of relief now as I transfer files from my office notebook to Archi (all data in the office machine belongs to the company - scary thought).

The ironic thing is, I'm still on dial-up because the bloody wireless LAN isn't working yet. !@#$# Bloody streamyx. plah.

So I'm happy to have Archimedes but FRUSTRATED that I can't surf with him yet.

It's true, what they say about tats. Once you get one, you keep wanting to get another. And so, off I went for another one yesterday, photos ala [info]tarlia (thanks, dear!). My 5th, to be exact. Of course it helps (or doesn't, depending on one's perspective) when one's own cousin is the tattoo artist. And one whose only wish is to have a large human canvas to express his art. That's where I come in really handy (take a look at the size of that canvas!).

FYI, the slender curves and curlews were where it hurt most. That's because he uses smaller needles for those. And they tend to pack a harder punch. Fifth time round, it was as therapeutic as I remembered it to be. It's all in the wrist. The gentle thump thump thump of the wooden hammer on the pillow gives it an almost hypnotic rhythm. I was reading The Lost World of the Kalahari AND watching South Park:The Movie at the same time.

At some point, [info]seoirse_1013 put food in front of me. That was the end of it. When the pain started to bother me, all I did was eat eat and eat. And then I ate some more.

I'm going back for more pain come Thursday. J wants to reinforce my bunga terung.

And many thanks to [info]seoirse_1013, [info]irmunchies and [info]tarlia for your moral support and screaming laughter; and not to forget the accidental swearing and temporary malopropism.

Life is getting near to overload for me at the moment. It's the personalities that I come across. At work, not play. I don't know what I want at this point. I'm happiest when I'm away from work. That's when I feel that I'm truly living. The key now is to get myself to feel the same in the workplace.

In any case, I choose to find joy in the little things in life so that greater joy may be found in the biggies. So there.

My brother has a new girlfriend. An exact replica of the old. Just a local model instead. It seems he is bent on getting girlfriends that are as different from his two sisters as he possibly can. Must be all that terrorizing we did to him. Maimed him for life. In short, she is shy, introvert and petrified in our presence. And she is scared of dogs.

I think I will be benign and give her a chance. She will be trained to like the dogs, first off. And then we shall see.

I started reading "Among the White Moonfaces" by Shirley Geok-lin Lim. Am half way through. A few observations spring to mind so far:

  • Language-wise, she's the best Malaysian born writer I've come across so far, even if I think she borders on the pretentious. Haven't quite made up my mind about that yet;

  • The most professionally prolific people are usually driven by anger, poverty, or both. As such, they often have no social life, especially when at their most productive;

  • So where does LOVE come in? And forgiveness? And compassion? And kindness? And gentleness?

Over the past week, I have found myself glaring at dtivers; looking daggers at strangers whom I'd imagine had wronged me by walking too slow or talking too loud. What's come over me?

I'd discuss this more but I'm starting to nod off.

I'll be offline for 10 days whilst I gallavant around a certain city Down Under.

I immersed on a baking frenzy and made an upside down pear pudding, and an upside down peach pudding. I think they turned out OK. I'm still blinking at them in shock because they came out in correct dimensions, one piece and all.

...I broke my favourite pair of glasses. On purpose. And I'm kicking myself over it.

My poor mother gets the brunt of everything.

I'm afraid this thing with my father will not blow over so easily. Simply because I'm not letting it and neither is he.

This is why I try never to let my temper blow. This is exactly why. I don't know how to climb down.

This has proved to be the worst home-move in my pathetic life history.

I play hardball. Let's play then.

Yesterday, I finally hauled my lazy ass off to find out more about learning sign language. I got a number and name for someone in the Society for the Hearing Impaired. It was all rather mysterious - no knowledge of who this person was, what he did, etc..

The phone conversation was very interesting because not only did the guy sound enthusiastic about my not learning sign language and their not holding classes, he was enthusiastic that I should learn the language by making friends with the hearing impaired people he works with, into the deep end.

Anyway,... [info]tarlia ended up meeting me at 2 to collect a book and CD on basic sign language.

We ended up chatting with Te for over 4 hours. We started very prim and properly about sign language. Then when we found out we had a lot in common, many mutual friends, and Te is just so damn interesting and cute, the conversation veered off to everything anything, from wildlife to dogs, to diseases, to hauntings to music and everything else in between. Anyway, he's a dog person just like me; he talks to his dogs the way I talk to mine. He seems to be as batty as we are, if not battier. We even have to same type of phone.

I'd like this to be the start of a nice friendship. I'd make a beeline for him but I think he's gay. Which doesn't matter because I'd like to be friends, but it does put a damper on things IF, further down the line, I decide something else.

In any case, I've already put my mouth in at least twice, and I know [info]tarlia will not let me get away with them....:

"I'm not about to take my top off untill I know you better" ...and

"I'd have to take my top off to show you" springs to mind. Ouch. I think I have a headache.

Oh, I love that rear window stick-on he has. It says "HONK IF YOUR'RE HORNY".
